Just ask her about it. Tell her that you want it really badly and that you just wan to try it. Keep in mind the fact that you’ll have to start out awkward and clunky and that you’ll probably be with girls a lot younger than you. You have to be willing to sacrifice for ballet, especially if you want to dance seriously. People will make you feel like total crap. Sometimes, you’ll feel fat and ugly and as though you’re moving backwards. Sometimes, you’ll want to break down crying in class. Sometimes, you’ll wonder why no one else can see how inadequate you are. Sometimes, you’ll feel as though you could really, truly make it. And then, a few minutes later, you’ll feel as though you’re destined for failure.

Make sure it’s what you want, and that you don’t go to a competition school, because very little actual technique is taught there. Make sure they don’t want you to go en pointe for at least a year after you start serious lessons (3 times a week or more).

    Good luck.

Just tell her. Tell her your grandma says you should, and that you really want to. Tell her it’s safe and fun!
But, you don’t wear tutus in class. Only in ballet plays ;)

    Good luck!

What I did (I’m 13) is I just told her. It can’t get easier by beating around the bush. Then I asked her what I could do for her to let me do it, and she said just to be good for a while. So I just did nice things around the house without her asking me to and tried hard to be polite to her and not talk back. Your mom may actually like the idea so having to convince her may not be necessary. You have already proved that you can stay commited to viola so tell her that you think you are responsible and hard-working enough to keep it up. Hope she says yes :)

Well, you need to be straight forward. No hiding or be afraid. You tell mom, i need to talk to you. I really would like to take ballet lessons because i enjoy it or love it. I can become a great dancer and eventually become rich and buy you a big house. The minute she hears that she will definitely say YES. I am just kidding. just say everything from the heart and just be honest and see what she says and be confident. You ‘ll see she might even be surprised and just say yes to you. Good luck and let us know what happened. I can’t wait.
