How to save and retrieve photos from camera to computer using Picasa?

Have moved photos from camera to computer using Picasa but haven’t a clue where they are stored … or how to ‘save’ them with a file name of my choosing. They show up all over the place in my computer which is a PC (camera is a Canon PowerShot A510). Appreciate any help – this is frustrating! Thanks.

picasa support ~importing photos

open picasa, select tools options general, and browse for import folder, or create new folder to select,

check software for canon powershot, and options for transferring images as well, could have other directories listed,
