If your looking to buy a good Video Camera then you probably want to go for either Sony or Canon. they are both probably the best of the makes.
The HD idea could also be a very satifying move as the videos if uploaded to the computer or TV will be very good quality.
The Sony Video Cameras are very popular and you can trust Sony. they provide good quality videos and if there are ever any problems then online the Sony help is very good.
If i was you id look for a Sony, however if they are too expensive then you want to have a look at Canon which are also very good.
