Starting Successful Greenhouse Growing

Very few people get perfect weather so many people think a greenhouse is an essential addition for anyone who loves gardening. The enclosed environment of the greenhouse create the perfect micro climate to suit the plants you want to grow.

Many flowers and vegetables can grow in a greenhouse when they would not survive outdoors in exteme cold weather or drought conditions. If you own a greenhouse the plants are completely under your control so you must remember to water them and protect them every day.

The benefits of a greenhouse is there are no variables as you are in total control of temperature and humidity and the plants live or die by your decisions. For many people the pleasure they get from greenhouse gardening is down to the satisfaction of having complete control and any success is down to you.

When you own a greenhouse there are many flowers and vegetables you can grow and you can started them from seeds and grow them to maturity and the feelings of satisfaction can be immense. There are several different types of greenhouse and choosing can be confusing but any type of greenhouse will be helpful if you want to grow plants that could not grow outside locally.

A quality greenhouse will last for many years and for the money give you a great deal of pleasure or you can build a cheap greenhouse and replace it later. Of all the different types I like the geodesic dome greenhouse partly because they look so stylish but also because they allow a lot of light into the greenhouse and gives you a huge amount of growing space.

The more common type of greenhouse everybody is familiar with is a recangular box shape with a door at one end and could have a low brick or timber wall with glass above. Rectangular greenhouses are usually aligned according to the direction where the sun rises though sometimes you will have too much sun so local conditions must decide.

You want to get plenty of light into your greenhouse but plants can be damaged by too much strong sunshine so you should get local advice on greenhouse positioning in your area. Glass is not always used for greenhouses and there are some very effective alternatives that are more resistent to wind damage and breaking glass panels.

The traditional way  to build a greenhouse can mean it lasts for decades while plastic greenhouses may only last a few years but they are a great alternative to get started with greenhouse gardening.
