How to walk in heels that are a size too big?

Elise asked:

I recently bought a pair of open toed heels, with a strap on the back, that are a size too big. They didn’t have my actual size, so I just settles for the larger size. They are fine in the front, it’s just the back that is making my heel slip around. I don’t want to be falling over and unbalanced, what can I do? Are there any tips to how to walk?

stuff something in the shoe like toilet paper or get gel soles to stop your feet slipping about in them :)

Get shoes that fit you! Walking around in too big of shoes is not only unattractive, it is DANGEROUS!!!

Maybe get some insoles to fill our the shoe a bit more, or go to a shoe store and ask if they have any soles for just the heel

Put a clear bandage over the heel tendon area to prevent blisters forming and tighten the strap to keep the shoes from moving too much. Might also get some double sided body tape and keep a roll in your purse. Put a strip down in the heel area. Replace as needed. Don’t walk too fast and try to be aware of the surface(s) you are walking on. Watch out for grates and other perforated surfaces, pits in the sidewalk and be careful on stairs (use the handrail even if you need to put a handkerchief between your hand and the rails).

Maiko is right!! Not only is it dangerous, for fear of accidents, you can seriously damage your feet wearing the wrong shoe size as well. When you buy ANY shoe, make sure they fit properly, and don’t take short cuts, regardless of whether it’s the design you want or not. There is no shortage of shoe shops in the world. Eventually you’ll find something that you like that actually fits you!

You should stick a bandaid on your heel. Thats all you can really do for a peep toed shoe.

I just have to ask could you change the strap like sew it or pin it so it adjusts around your heel just a bit better?

    Tighten the straps
    Walk on tiptoes

Try gel inserts or stuffing the toe with tissues. Also, your foot will have a better grip on the shoe if you curl your toes while you walk. Remember- heel, toe, heel, toe! :)

get thick insoles so your foot will be pushed to the top of the shoe, will will make it not slip!
